Painting Your Love Story, As It Happens
The painting arrived and it is absolutely beautiful. It is exactly what I was hoping for and Rose looks just like her. Perfect. Thank you so much

My Story
Hi, I’m Kat Tris.
I’m a live wedding painter based in Brisbane, and I create photorealistic portraits of couples on one of the most meaningful days of their lives.
I don’t paint the whole crowd or the entire venue. I focus on just the two of you — because that’s where the real story lives. For me, the most powerful part of the day is the quiet connection you share in the middle of all the celebration. My goal is to preserve that feeling in paint—something you can see and hold onto forever.
How I Got Here
I’ve always loved drawing people. Even as a child, I was fascinated by faces — the way emotion sits just under the surface, the way each person carries their own story. I studied architecture and design, which taught me precision and structure, but it was painting that brought me home.
Back in my home country, I was humbled to have won a national painting competition, a meaningful moment that affirmed my path as an artist. Having my work recognized in that way, combined with nearly a decade of creative experience, gave me the confidence to keep going — to trust my eye, my process, and the emotional depth I bring to each piece.
When I moved to Australia and got engaged myself, I fell in love with the wedding industry — not just the beauty of the day, but the meaning behind it. That’s when I knew I wanted to combine my love for portraiture with real, emotional storytelling.
In 2023, I began painting weddings live. Since then, I’ve been lucky to paint beautiful moments for couples across Queensland and beyond, quietly capturing the heart of the day.
Why I Paint Live Weddings
There’s something beautiful about witnessing a moment unfold and translating it onto canvas as it’s happening. It’s real, raw, and unfiltered — and that’s what I try to capture.
I paint live during your wedding, usually starting during the ceremony or first dance. While your guests are celebrating, I quietly work in the background, focused on the bond between you. Later, I refine the painting in my studio, making sure every brushstroke does your story justice.
My style is photorealistic, but I don’t just aim to capture how you looked. I paint how it felt — the warmth, the stillness, the emotion between you.
