My Story
Hi, I’m Kat Tris .
I’m a live wedding painter based in Brisbane, and I create photorealistic portraits of couples on one of the most meaningful days of their lives.
I don’t paint the whole crowd or the entire venue. I focus on just the two of you — because that’s where the real story lives. For me, the most powerful part of the day is the quiet connection you share in the middle of all the celebration. My goal is to preserve that feeling in paint—something you can see and hold onto forever.

If you’re dreaming of a timeless, emotional artwork that captures you and your partner as you truly are — not just what your wedding looked like, but what it felt like — I’d love to paint your story.
Here’s how the process works:
- 1. Check Availability & Secure Your Date
The first step is to check if your wedding date is available. Once we’ve confirmed, a 20% deposit) is required to officially reserve your date. This deposit is non-refundable, as I only take a limited number of bookings per year to ensure every painting receives the care it deserves.
For your convenience, the remaining balance can be split into two payments if needed.
- 2. The Wedding Day
If possible, I recommend allowing me to quietly attend your post-ceremony photo session — this gives me the best reference materials to work from and ensures I catch your most genuine connection.
I’ll arrive before your ceremony to set up and capture reference photos and videos of the two of you. I work subtly and with care — so you’ll hardly notice I’m there, but I’ll be observing the heart of your day.
Throughout the celebration, your guests can enjoy watching the painting come to life — it’s often a beautiful and unexpected touch of entertainment.
Before I leave, I’ll show you the day’s progress, then take the piece back to my studio to refine every detail, usually it takes 12 weeks to finish.
Each painting is more than just a portrait — it’s a love story on canvas.

FAQs
What materials do you use?
The paintings come on quality stretched canvas. I used Gamblin, Cobra and Winsor and Newton oil paints which are archival and built to last. I use a varnish to protect the finished painting.
Are you willing to travel?
Yes, as long as the venue is around Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Sunshine Coast area. I am based in Brisbane.
How long do your live paintings take?
Each painting will take 5-7 hours live painting on your wedding day plus 12 weeks of studio hours to complete, depending on the size of the canvas.
Does the venue need to supply anything for you?
I do need access to an outlet to plug in my lighting. If I am painting outside, a shady area would be needed.
Does the painting come framed?
The painting comes with a standard floating frame.
Can you move painting spots throughout the wedding?
I prefer to paint in one area because moving locations can take up to 30 minutes to set up. I need as much time as possible to paint. I prefer to paint in the reception area.
